In the first place went the standard of the camp of the children of Judah according to their armies; and over their host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethanael the son of Zuar.

And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.

And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelmuiel the son of Zurishaddai.

And over the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies; and over their host was Elishama the son of Ammihud.

And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Perzur.

And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.

And the standard of the children of Dan set forward, which was at the end of all the camps throughout their hosts; and over the host of the tribe of the children of Dan was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran.

Thus was the order of the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their hosts.

And the mixed multitude that was among them had a strong craving; and they went about and caused the children of Israel to weep, saying, Who shall give us meat to eat?

Send men that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel; of every tribe of their fathers shall you send a man, every one a chief among them.

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron; and the whole congregation said to them, Would God we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would God that we had died in this wilderness!

Why has the LORD brought us into this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should be a prey? We were better off when we dwelt in Egypt.

Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
