They put a crown of thorns on His head. They put a stick in His right hand. They got on their knees before Him and made fun of Him. They said, "Hello, King of the Jews!"

They spit on Him. They took a stick and hit Him on the head.

After they had made fun of Him, they took the coat off and put His own clothes on Him. Then they led Him away to be nailed to a cross.

Then they sat down and watched Him.

They said, "You are the One Who could destroy the house of God and build it up again in three days. Now save Yourself. If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross."

The head religious leaders and the teachers of the Law and the other leaders made fun of Him also. They said,

The captain of the soldiers and those with him who were watching Jesus, saw all the things that were happening. They saw the earth shake and they were very much afraid. They said, "For sure, this Man was the Son of God."

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary stayed there. They were sitting near the grave.

Then they went and made the soldiers stand by the grave. They put a lock on the big stone door.

They went away from the grave in a hurry. They were afraid and yet had much joy. They ran to tell the news to His followers.

As they went to tell the followers, Jesus met them and said hello to them. They came and held His feet and worshiped Him.

Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell My followers to go to Galilee. They will see Me there."

They said, "Tell the people, ‘His followers came at night and took His body while we were sleeping.'

They took the money and did as they were told. This story was told among the Jews and is still told today.

John the Baptist preached in the desert. He preached that people should be baptized because they were sorry for their sins and had turned from them. And they would be forgiven.

People from over all the country of Judea and from Jerusalem came to him. They told of their sins and were baptized by John in the Jordan River.

Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee. He saw Simon and his brother Andrew putting a net into the sea. They were fishermen.

At once they left their nets and followed Him.

Jesus went on a little farther. He saw James and his brother John who were sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat mending their nets.

Jesus called them and they left their father Zebedee. He was in the boat with men who were working for him.
