Awesome is God from his sanctuary; the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!

For the Lord hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners.

the offspring of his servants shall inherit it, and those who love his name shall dwell in it.

In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!

May desert tribes bow down before him, and his enemies lick the dust!

From oppression and violence he redeems their life, and precious is their blood in his sight.

May his name endure forever, his fame continue as long as the sun! May people be blessed in him, all nations call him blessed!

Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen!

Therefore his people turn back to them, and find no fault in them.

His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.

Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time?

Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?" Selah

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord , and his might, and the wonders that he has done.

so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;

They did not keep God's covenant, but refused to walk according to his law.

They forgot his works and the wonders that he had shown them.

He struck the rock so that water gushed out and streams overflowed. Can he also give bread or provide meat for his people?"

Therefore, when the Lord heard, he was full of wrath; a fire was kindled against Jacob; his anger rose against Israel,

because they did not believe in God and did not trust his saving power.
