And it happened that when He went into the house of one of the leaders of the Pharisees on the Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching Him closely.

But they were silent. And He took hold of him, healed him, and sent him away.

And they could make no reply to this.

And He was telling a parable to the invited guests when He noticed how they were picking out the places of honor at the table, saying to them,

And He also went on to say to the one who had invited Him, "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and that will be your repayment.

and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for it will be repaid to you at the resurrection of the righteous."

But they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of land and I need to go out and look at it. I ask you, consider me excused.'

for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.' And they began to celebrate.

And I say to you, make friends for yourselves from the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it fails, they will take you into the eternal dwellings.

But Abraham *said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.'

But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'"

And they raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"

When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And it happened that as they were going, they were cleansed.

Then Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they?

And they will say to you, ‘Look there! Look here!' Do not go away, and do not run after them.

they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

And answering they *said to Him, "Where, Lord?" And He said to them, "Where the body is, there also the vultures will be gathered."

Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart,

And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt:

And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they were rebuking them.
