Stop trusting in man. He has only a breath in his nose. Why should he be honored?

The people will make it hard for each other. Each one will hurt the other, and each one will be hurt by his neighbor. The younger will show anger toward the older. And the man who is not respected will show anger toward the man of honor.

A man will take hold of his brother in his father's house, saying, "You have a coat. You will be our ruler. This destroyed city will be under your rule."

For Jerusalem has no strength, and Judah has fallen, because their speaking and their actions are against the Lord. They have turned against His shining-greatness.

The Lord judges the leaders and rulers of His people: "It is you who have destroyed the grape-field. What had belonged to the poor is in your houses.

Let me sing for my loved one a love song about His grape-field: My loved one had a grape-field on a hill that grows much fruit.

They have harps, a noise-maker, a horn, and wine at their special suppers. But they do not think about the works of the Lord. They do not think of the work of His hands.

who say, "Let Him hurry. Let Him be quick to do His work, that we may see it. Let the plan of the Holy One of Israel be done, that we may know it!"

Because of this the anger of the Lord has burned against His people. He has put out His hand against them and destroyed them. The mountains shook. Their dead bodies lay like waste in the center of the streets. For all this His anger is not turned away but His hand is still put out.

In the year of King Uzziah's death, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and honored. His long clothing spread out and filled the house of God.

Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings. With two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

One called out to another and said, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of All. The whole earth is full of His shining-greatness."

When the family of David was told, "Syria has joined with Ephraim," his heart and the hearts of his people shook as trees shake with the wind.

So now, see, the Lord is ready to bring on them the strong and powerful waters of the Euphrates, the king of Assyria and all his greatness. It will rise up high and cause a flood.

I will wait for the Lord Who is hiding His face from the family of Jacob. I trust Him and hope in Him.

For to us a Child will be born. To us a Son will be given. And the rule of the nations will be on His shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful, Teacher, Powerful God, Father Who Lives Forever, Prince of Peace.

There will be no end to His rule and His peace, upon the throne of David and over his nation. He will build it to last and keep it strong with what is right and fair and good from that time and forever. The work of the Lord of All will do this.

The Syrians on the east and the Philistines on the west swallow Israel with an open mouth. Even with this, the Lord's anger does not turn away. His hand is still held out.

So the Lord is not pleased with their young men. He does not have pity on their children who have no parents or on their women whose husbands have died. Every one of them is without God and does sinful things. Every mouth speaks foolish words. Even with all this, His anger does not turn away. His hand is still held out.

The land is burned up by the anger of the Lord, and the people are like wood for the fire. No man shows pity on his brother.
