His voice and speech are exceedingly sweet; yes, he is altogether lovely [the whole of him delights and is precious]. [fn] This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem! Ps. 92:15; Col. 1:15.">[fn]

(6-1) My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the bed of aromatical spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies.

Thy throat like the best wine, worthy for my beloved to drink, and for his lips and his teeth to ruminate.

I to my beloved, and his turning is towards me.

His left hand under my head, and his right hand shall embrace me.

Many waters cannot quench charity, neither can the floods drown it: if a man should give all the substance of his house for love, he shall despise it as nothing.

I am a wall: and my breasts are as a tower since I am become in his presence as one finding peace.

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel hath not known me, and my people hath not understood.

For Jerusalem is ruined, and Juda is fallen: because their tongue, and their devices are against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his majesty.

Say to the just man that it is well, for he shall eat the fruit of his doings.

Woe to the wicked unto evil: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and its princes: for you have devoured the vineyard, and the spoil of the poor is in your house.
