The Lord is good to those who wait for him,to the person who seeks him.

It is good for a man to bear the yokewhile he is still young.

Let him sit alone and be silent,for God has disciplined him.

For the Lordwill not reject us forever.

For he does not enjoy bringing afflictionor suffering on mankind.

Why should any living person complain,any man, because of the punishment for his sins?

For no reason, my enemieshunted me like a bird.

You heard my plea:Do not ignore my cry for relief.

The nursing baby’s tongueclings to the roof of his mouth from thirst.Infants beg for food,but no one gives them any.

All the while our eyes were failingas we looked in vain for help;we watched from our towersfor a nation that would not save us.

We must pay for the water we drink;our wood comes at a price.

The crown has fallen from our head.Woe to us, for we have sinned.

Why do you continually forget us,abandon us for our entire lives?

Wherever the Spirit wanted to go, the creatures went in the direction the Spirit was moving. The wheels rose alongside them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

When the creatures moved, the wheels moved; when the creatures stopped, the wheels stopped; and when the creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose alongside them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

Whether they listen or refuse to listen—for they are a rebellious house—they will know that a prophet has been among them.

“But you, son of man, do not be afraid of them and do not be afraid of their words, even though briers and thorns are beside you and you live among scorpions. Don’t be afraid of their words or discouraged by the look on their faces, for they are a rebellious house.

Speak my words to them whether they listen or refuse to listen, for they are rebellious.

For you are not being sent to a people of unintelligible speech or a difficult language but to the house of Israel—

But the house of Israel will not want to listen to you because they do not want to listen to me. For the whole house of Israel is hardheaded and hardhearted.
