So neither I, my brothers, my servants, nor the men of the guard who followed me—none of us removed our clothes; each took his weapon even to the water.

Then I said to them, "The gates of Jerusalem are not to be opened until the sun is hot, and while they are standing guard, the gatekeepers are to keep the doors shut and bolted. Also appoint guards from the inhabitants of Jerusalem, each at his post, and each in front of his own house."

and above the Gate of Ephraim, by the Ancient Gate, by the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel, and the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Sheep Gate; and they stopped at the Gate of the Guard.

"Am I the sea, or the sea monster, That You set a guard over me?

Guard my soul and save me; Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.

The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in From this time and forever.

Set a guard, LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

Discretion will watch over you, Understanding will guard you,

"Do not abandon her, and she will guard you; Love her, and she will watch over you.

Take hold of instruction; do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life.

Guard your steps as you go to the house of God, and approach to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know that they are doing evil.

Then the lookout called, "Lord, I stand continually by day on the watchtower, And I am stationed every night at my guard post.

"I, the LORD, am its keeper; I water it every moment. So that no one will damage it, I guard it night and day.

But you will not go out in a hurry, Nor will you go as fugitives; For the LORD will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

This is what the LORD says: "Guard justice and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come And My righteousness to be revealed.

"Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your recovery will spring up quickly; And your righteousness will go before you; The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

"Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; Because every brother utterly betrays, And every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.

Now at that time the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was imprisoned in the courtyard of the guard, which was at the house of the king of Judah,

"Then my uncle's son Hanamel came to me in the courtyard of the guard in accordance with the word of the LORD and said to me, 'Buy my field, please, that is at Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for you have the right of possession and the redemption is yours; buy it for yourself.' Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.

and I gave the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the sight of Hanamel my uncle's son and in the sight of the witnesses who signed the deed of purchase, in the sight of all the Jews who were sitting in the courtyard of the guard.
