"For I am full of words; The spirit within me constrains me.

"Behold, I will not make you afraid or terrified of me [for I am only mortal and not God], Nor should any pressure from me weigh heavily upon you.

'I am pure, without transgression; I am innocent and there is no guilt in me.

"For Job has said, 'I am righteous [and innocent], But God has taken away my right;

Although I am right, I am accounted a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.'

"Behold, I am of little importance and contemptible; what can I reply to You? I lay my hand on my mouth.

Have mercy on me and be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am weak (faint, frail); Heal me, O LORD, for my bones are dismayed and anguished.

I am weary with my groaning; Every night I soak my bed with tears, I drench my couch with my weeping.

Have mercy on me and be gracious to me, O LORD; See how I am afflicted by those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death,

And my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," And my adversaries will rejoice when I am shaken.

I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; And I am saved from my enemies.

But I am [treated as] a worm [insignificant and powerless] and not a man; I am the scorn of men and despised by the people.

I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax; It is melted [by anguish] within me.

Turn to me [LORD] and be gracious to me, For I am alone and afflicted.

Though an army encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, Even in this I am confident.

The LORD is my strength and my [impenetrable] shield; My heart trusts [with unwavering confidence] in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I shall thank Him and praise Him.

Be gracious and compassionate to me, O LORD, for I am in trouble; My eye is clouded and weakened by grief, my soul and my body also.

I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind; I am like a broken vessel.

As for me, I said in my alarm, "I am cut off from Your eyes." Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications (specific requests) When I cried to You [for help].

Draw also the spear and javelin to meet those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."
