then casting his eyes round the company, he said to the man, stretch out your hand. and he did so: and that hand was as sound as the other.

when it was day, he called his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom he stiled missionarys: Simon,

(to whom he gave the name of Peter) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

At length he came down the hill with them, and stayed with the rest of his disciples in the plain, where a great multitude of people from all Judea, from Jerusalem, and the maritime country of Tyre and Sidon, came to hear him, and to have their diseases cured.

Then directing himself to his disciples, he said, blessed are ye, that are poor: for the divine kingdom is yours.

The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

a good man out of the good treasure of his heart produces what is good: and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart produces what is evil: for 'tis from the abundance of the heart, that the mouth speaketh.

but he that does not practise what he hears, is like a man who built his house upon the loose earth without any foundation: the current beat impetuously against it: in the instant down it fell, and great were its ruins.

this centurion having heard of Jesus's fame, sent several elders of the Jews to intreat him to come, and recover his servant.

and hath built us a synagogue at his own charge.

then Jesus went with him, and when he was advanced near the house, the centurion sent some of his friends to him, saying, "Lord, don't give yourself the trouble of coming, I don't deserve you should honour my house with your presence.

The day following, he went into a city called Nain, accompanied by many of his disciples, and a great crowd of people.

as he drew near the gate of the city, there was a dead man just then carrying out to be buried, who was his mother's only son, and she a widow: and many people of the town came with her.

and the deceased sat up, and began to speak, and Jesus delivered him to his mother.

all that were present were seized with dread, and glorified God, saying, a great prophet is risen up among us, and God has visited his people.

and his fame spread over all Judea and the neighbouring countrys.

John was soon inform'd of these transactions by his disciples,

and blessed is he, who does not make me the occasion of his fall.

and stood behind at his feet weeping, bath'd them with her tears, wiped them with her hair, kissed his feet, and poured the perfume upon them.

in answer to his doubts, Jesus said, Simon, I have something to say to you. master, said he, lets hear it.
