But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions,

"HE WILL NOT QUARREL, NOR CRY OUT; NOR WILL ANYONE HEAR HIS VOICE IN THE STREETS.

"AND IN HIS NAME THE GENTILES WILL HOPE."

"If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then will his kingdom stand?

"Or how can anyone enter the strong man's house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.

"The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil.

While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him.

And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers!

"When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.

Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.

"But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.

He presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field;

Then He left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him and said, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field."

"The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness,

And Jesus said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old."

He came to His hometown and began teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?

"Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?

"And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?"

And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household."

and said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him."
