He arose and took the young child and his mother, and came into Eretz-Yisra'el.

But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Yehudah in the place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Being warned in a dream, he withdrew into the region of the Galil,

Now Yochanan himself had clothing made of camel's hair, and a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

But when he saw many of the Perushim and Tzedukim coming for his immersion, he said to them, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."

and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, 'He will give his angels charge concerning you.' and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, So that you don't dash your foot against a stone.'"

Walking by the sea of the Galil, he saw two brothers: Shim`on, who is called Kefa, and Andrai, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, Ya`akov the son of Zavdai, and Yochanan his brother, in the boat with Zavdai their father, mending their nets. He called them.

Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto a mountain. When he had sat down, his talmidim came to him.

He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,

But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever shall say to his brother, 'Reyka!' shall be in danger of the council; and whoever shall say, 'Shoteh!' shall be in danger of the fire of Gehinnom.

but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

"It was also said, 'Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,'

but I tell you that whoever who puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.

nor by the eretz, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Yerushalayim, for it is the city of the great King.

that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.

"Which of you, by being anxious, can add one cubit to the measure of his life?

yet I tell you that even Shlomo in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.

But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be added to you.
