He also said to the disciples, "There was a rich man who had a steward, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his goods.

So, summoning his master's debtors one by one, he said to the first, 'How much do you owe my master?'

The master commended the dishonest steward for his shrewdness; for the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.

"Every one who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.

And at his gate lay a poor man named Laz'arus, full of sores,

who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table; moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Laz'arus in his bosom.

And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Laz'arus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.'

And he said to his disciples, "Temptations to sin are sure to come; but woe to him by whom they come!

It would be better for him if a millstone were hung round his neck and he were cast into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.

and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan.

For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of man be in his day.

On that day, let him who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away; and likewise let him who is in the field not turn back.

Whoever seeks to gain his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it.

And will not God vindicate his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them?

But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for every one who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."

And immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God; and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten pounds, and said to them, 'Trade with these till I come.'

But his citizens hated him and sent an embassy after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.'
