And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:

Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart [fn] brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Matthew 8:5-13">[xr] Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum.

So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant.

Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd.

And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.

So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.

Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has risen up among us"; and, "God has visited His people."

And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, [fn] saying, "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?"

and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.

"A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.

Matthew 12:46-50; Mark 3:31-35">[xr] Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and could not approach Him because of the crowd.

Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-41">[xr] Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side of the lake." And they launched out.

Then they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.

"Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you." And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.
