Because of this his parents said, "He is of age; ask him."

He answered, "I already told you and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again and again? Do you want to become His disciples, too?"

And [at that remark] they stormed at him and jeered, "You are His disciple, but we are disciples of Moses!

"We know [according to your tradition] that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone fears God and does His will, He hears him.

"If this Man were not from God, He would not be able to do anything [like this because God would not hear His prayer]."

"The doorkeeper opens [the gate] for this man, and the sheep hear his voice and pay attention to it. And [knowing that they listen] he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out [to pasture].

"When he has brought all his own sheep outside, he walks on ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice and recognize his call.

"I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His [own] life for the sheep.

A division [of opinion] occurred again among the Jews because of these words [of His].

And many there believed and confidently trusted in Him [accepting Him as Savior, and following His teaching].

It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with perfume and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

Then He said to His disciples, "Let us go back to Judea."

However, Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was referring to natural sleep.

Then Thomas, who was called Didymus (the twin), said to his fellow disciples, "Let us go too, that we may die with Him."

When Mary came [to the place] where Jesus was and saw Him, she fell at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died."

Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you believe [in Me], you will see the glory of God [the expression of His excellence]?"

So they took away the stone. And Jesus raised His eyes [toward heaven] and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

Out came the man who had been dead, his hands and feet tightly wrapped in burial cloths (linen strips), and with a [burial] cloth wrapped around his face. Jesus said to them, "Unwrap him and release him."

Now he did not say this [simply] on his own initiative; but being the high priest that year, he [was unknowingly used by God and] prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

Then Mary took a pound of very expensive perfume of pure nard, and she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
