Hereby know we that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous.

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. For this is the witness of God [which] he has witnessed concerning his Son.

He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself; he that does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness which God has witnessed concerning his Son.

And this is the witness, that God has given to us eternal life; and this life is in his Son.

And this is the boldness which we have towards him, that if we ask him anything according to his will he hears us.

If any one see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life, for those that do not sin unto death. There is a sin to death: I do not say of that that he should make a request.

And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding that we should know him that [is] true; and we are in him that [is] true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

And this is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, according as ye have heard from the beginning, that ye might walk in it.

for he who greets him partakes in his wicked works.

For this reason, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he does, babbling against us with wicked words; and not content with these, neither does he himself receive the brethren; and those who would he prevents, and casts [them] out of the assembly.

The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. Beloved, I desire that in all things thou shouldest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers. For I rejoiced exceedingly when [the] brethren came and bore testimony to thy [holding fast the] truth, even as *thou* walkest in truth. I wrote something to the assembly; but Diotrephes, who loves to have the first place among them, receives us not. Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He that does good is of God. He that does evil has not seen God. Demetrius has witness borne to him by all, and by the truth itself; and *we* also bear witness, and thou knowest that our witness is true. I had many things to write to thee, but I will not with ink and pen write to thee; but I hope soon to see thee, and we will speak mouth to mouth. Peace [be] to thee. The friends greet thee. Greet the friends by name.

And Enoch, [the] seventh from Adam, prophesied also as to these, saying, Behold, [the] Lord has come amidst his holy myriads,

But to him that is able to keep you without stumbling, and to set [you] with exultation blameless before his glory,

and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father: to him [be] the glory and the might to the ages of ages. Amen.
