Meat that touches anything unclean must not be eaten; it is to be burned up. As for any other meat, anyone who is clean may eat it.

The fat of an animal found dead or mauled by wild beasts may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it.

This is the portion of the offerings made by fire to the LORD for Aaron and his sons since the day they were presented to serve the LORD as priests.

On the day they were anointed, the LORD commanded that this be given them by the sons of Israel. It is a permanent portion for the generations to come.

Moses then brought the bull near for the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.

Then Moses presented the ram for the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.

You must not go outside the entrance to the Tent of Meeting for seven days, until the days of your ordination are complete; for it will take seven days to ordain you.

You must remain at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting day and night for seven days and keep the LORD's charge so that you will not die, for this is what I have been commanded."

He said to Aaron, "Take for yourself a bull calf for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both without blemish, and present them before the LORD.

Then speak to the Israelites and say, 'Take a male goat for a sin offering, a calf and a lamb-both a year old and without blemish-for a burnt offering,

an ox and a ram for a peace offering to sacrifice before the LORD, and a grain offering mixed with oil. For today the LORD will appear to you.'"

Then Moses said to Aaron, "Approach the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering to make atonement for yourself and for the people. And sacrifice the people's offering to make atonement for them, as the LORD has commanded."

So Aaron approached the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sin offering for himself.

Aaron then presented the people's offering. He took the male goat for the people's sin offering, slaughtered it, and offered it for sin like the first one.

Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown.

You shall not go outside the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, or you will die, for the LORD's anointing oil is on you." So they did as Moses instructed.

"You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink when you enter the Tent of Meeting, or else you will die; this is a perpetual statute for the generations to come.

You shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your share and your sons' share of the offerings made by fire to the LORD; for this is what I have been commanded.

Later, Moses searched carefully for the goat of the sin offering, and behold, it had been burned up. He was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's surviving sons, and asked,

"Why did you not eat the sin offering in the holy place? For it is most holy; it was given to you to take away the guilt of the congregation by making atonement for them before the LORD.
