The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, "God, I thank You that I am not like other men--extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore [fn] do not go after them.

For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

But he said to Him, "Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death."

And after a little while another saw him and said, "You also are of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not!"

Then they all said, "Are You then the Son of God?" So He said to them, "You rightly say that I am."

He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, "I am not the Christ."

And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."

He said: "I am 'The voice of one crying in the wilderness:"Make straight the way of the Lord," ' Isaiah 40:3 ">[fn] as the prophet Isaiah said."

It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose."

You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, "I am not the Christ,' but, "I have been sent before Him.'

Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am He."

The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me."

And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, "I am the bread which came down from heaven."

I am the bread of life.

I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world."

You go up to this feast. I am not yet [fn] going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come."

Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, "You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.

But [fn] I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me."
