'But nothing that a man sets apart [that is, devotes as an offering] to the LORD out of all that he has, of man or of animal or of the fields of his own property, shall be sold or redeemed. Anything devoted to destruction (banned, cursed) is most holy to the LORD.

'If a man wishes to redeem any part of his tithe, he shall add one-fifth to it.

"And with you there shall be a man [to assist you] from each tribe, each being the head of his father's household.

These were the ones who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, with the leaders of Israel, twelve men, each representing his fathers' household.

"The Israelites shall camp according to their armies, every man by his own camp and every man by his own [tribal] standard (banner).

"The sons of Israel shall camp, each by his own standard, with the banners of their fathers' households; they shall camp around the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), but at a distance.

Thus the Israelites did [as ordered]; according to everything the LORD had commanded Moses, so they camped by their standards, and so they moved out, everyone with his family (clan), according to his fathers' household.
