O my God, turn Your ear and hear! Open Your eyes and see our trouble and the city that is called by Your name. We are not asking this of You because we are right or good, but because of Your great loving-pity.

I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the special dream. The men who were with me did not see it. But they were filled with much fear, and ran away to hide themselves.

"Whenever I would heal Israel, I see the sin of Ephraim and the wrong-doing of Samaria. They are false in their ways. The robber breaks into houses, and sinful men rob in the streets.

Do you see how our food has been taken from us? Has not happiness and joy been cut off from the house of our God?

"In the last days I will send My Spirit on all men. Then your sons and daughters will speak God's Word. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see special dreams.

They have drawn names to see who would get My people. They have traded a boy for a woman who sells the use of her body. And they have sold a girl for wine to drink.

Say to the people who live in the strong cities of Ashdod and Egypt, "Gather together on the mountains of Samaria. See all the trouble within her and how her people suffer.

The Lord said to me, "What do you see, Amos?" And I said, "A string." Then the Lord said, "See, I am about to put a straight string among my people Israel. I will not change My mind again about punishing them.

And the Lord said, "What do you see, Amos?" I said, "A basket of summer fruit." Then the Lord said to me, "The end has come for My people Israel. I will not change My mind again about punishing them.

See, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful nation, and I will destroy it from the earth. But I will not destroy all the people of Jacob," says the Lord.

Then Jonah left the city and sat to the east of the city. There he made a tent for himself, and sat in its shadow until he could see what would happen in the city.

See, the Lord is coming from His place. He will come down and walk on the high places of the earth.

I will suffer under the Lord's anger, because I have sinned against Him, until He speaks for me and does what is fair for me. He will bring me out to the light, and I will see His saving power.

Then the one who hated me will see, and shame will cover her who said to me, "Where is the Lord your God?" My eyes will look on her, and she will be crushed under foot like mud in the streets.

Nations will see and be ashamed of all their power. They will put their hands on their mouths, and will not be able to hear with their ears.

See, on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news and speaks of peace! Keep your special suppers, O Judah. Keep your promises. For the sinful one will never come against you again. He is destroyed.

"I am against you," says the Lord of All. "I will lift up your clothing over your face and let the nations see your body. The nations will see your shame.

I will throw dirt on you and make you unclean. People will look at you and see how bad you are.

All who see you will leave you and say, ‘Nineveh is destroyed! Who will have sorrow for her?' Where can I find anyone to comfort you?"

Yet she was taken away to a strange land. She was taken away in chains. Her small children were beaten to death at every street corner. They drew names to see who would get her men of honor. And all her great men were put in chains.
