The king appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trod on him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.

It happened, as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Shomron;

and that captain answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? and he said, Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it:

The woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God; and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Pelishtim seven years.

Now the king was talking with Gechazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.

Elisha came to Dammesek; and Ben-Hadad the king of Aram was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come here.

The king said to Haza'el, Take a present in your hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this sickness?

He settled his gaze steadfastly [on him], until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

He arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said to him, Thus says the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, I have anointed you king over the people of the LORD, even over Yisra'el.

But Yehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, with all his heart: he didn't depart from the sins of Yarov`am, with which he made Yisra'el to sin.

The man of God was angry with him, and said, You should have struck five or six times: then had you struck Aram until you had consumed it, whereas now you shall strike Aram but thrice.

He restored the border of Yisra'el from the entrance of Hamat to the sea of the `Aravah, according to the word of the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, which he spoke by his servant Yonah the son of Ammittai, the prophet, who was of Gat-Hefer.

Twenty years old was Achaz when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Yerushalayim: and he didn't do that which was right in the eyes of the LORD his God, like David his father.

It was so, because the children of Yisra'el had sinned against the LORD their God, who brought them up out of the land of Mitzrayim from under the hand of Par`oh king of Mitzrayim, and had feared other gods,

The children of Yisra'el did secretly things that were not right against the LORD their God: and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city;

Notwithstanding, they would not hear, but hardened their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who didn't believe in the LORD their God.

They forsook all the mitzvot of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made an Asherah, and worshiped all the host of the sky, and served Ba`al.

Also Yehudah didn't keep the mitzvot of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Yisra'el which they made.

Therefore they spoke to the king of Ashshur, saying, The nations which you have carried away, and placed in the cities of Shomron, don't know the law of the god of the land: therefore he has sent lions among them, and, behold, they kill them, because they don't know the law of the god of the land.

Then the king of Ashshur commanded, saying, Carry there one of the Kohanim whom you brought from there; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the law of the god of the land.
