He caused all who were found in Yerushalayim and Binyamin to stand [to it]. The inhabitants of Yerushalayim did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

Yoshiyahu took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Yisra'el, and made all who were found in Yisra'el to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. All his days they didn't depart from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.

He said to the Levites who taught all Yisra'el, who were holy to the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Shlomo the son of David king of Yisra'el did build; there shall no more be a burden on your shoulders: now serve the LORD your God, and his people Yisra'el.

His princes gave for a freewill- offering to the people, to the Kohanim, and to the Levites. Hilkiyah and Zekharyah and Yechi'el, the rulers of the house of God, gave to the Kohanim for the Pesach offerings two thousand and six hundred [small cattle], and three hundred oxen.

But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with you, you king of Yehudah? [I come] not against you this day, but against the house with which I have war; and God has commanded me to make haste: forbear you from [meddling with] God, who is with me, that he not destroy you.

Nevertheless Yoshiyahu would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and didn't listen to the words of Nekho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

Yehoiakim was Twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Yerushalayim: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.

He also rebelled against king Nevukhadnetztzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart against turning to the LORD, the God of Yisra'el.

The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling-place:

but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, until there was no remedy.

All the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes, all these he brought to Bavel.

They burnt the house of God, and broke down the wall of Yerushalayim, and burnt all the palaces of it with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels of it.

Thus says Koresh king of Paras, All the kingdoms of the eretz has the LORD, the God of heaven, given me; and he has charged me to build him a house in Yerushalayim, which is in Yehudah. Whoever there is among you of all his people, the LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.

Then rose up the heads of fathers' [houses] of Yehudah and Binyamin, and the Kohanim, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Yerushalayim.

Some of the heads of fathers' [houses], when they came to the house of the LORD which is in Yerushalayim, offered willingly for the house of God to set it up in its place:

Then stood up Yeshua the son of Yotzadak, and his brothers the Kohanim, and Zerubbavel the son of She'alti'el, and his brothers, and built the altar of the God of Yisra'el, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moshe the man of God.
