My children, I am suffering birth pains for you again until Christ is formed in you.1 Corinthians 4:15; James 1:18;">[xr]

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and the other by a free woman.Genesis 16:15; 21:2;">[xr]

This is being said as an allegory, for these women represent two covenants. The one woman, Hagar, is from Mount Sinai, and her children are born into slavery.Deuteronomy 33:2;">[xr]

For it is written,Isaiah 54:1;">[xr] "Rejoice, you childless woman, who cannot give birth to any children! Break into song and shout, you who feel no pains of childbirth! For the children of the deserted woman are more numerous than the children of the woman who has a husband."Isaiah 54:1">[fn]

But what does the Scripture say? "Drive out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman must never share the inheritance with the son of the free woman."Genesis 21:10">[fn]Genesis 21:10,12; John 8:35; Galatians 3:8,22, 12;">[xr]

Christ has set us free so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom.has set us free for freedom">[fn] So keep on standing firm in it, and stop attaching yourselves to the yoke of slavery again.John 8:32; Acts 15:10; Romans 6:18; Galatians 2:4; 4:9; 1 Peter 2:16;">[xr]

For through the Spirit, by faith, we eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.Romans 8:24-25; 2 Timothy 4:8;">[xr]

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision matters. What matters is faithBut faith">[fn] that is active through love.1 Corinthians 7:19; Galatians 3:28; 6:15; Colossians 3:11; 1 Thessalonians 1:3; James 2:18,20, 22;">[xr]

As for me, brothers, if I am still preaching the necessity ofthe necessity of ">[fn] circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.1 Corinthians 1:23; 15:30; Galatians 4:29;">[xr]

For you, brothers, were called to freedom. Only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity to gratify your flesh, but through love make it your habit to serve one another.1 Corinthians 8:9; 9:19; Galatians 6:2; 1 Peter 2:16; 2 Peter 2:19; Jude 1:4;">[xr]

For the whole law is summarized in a single statement: "You must love your neighbor as yourself."Leviticus 19:18">[fn]Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 7:12; 22:39-40; Romans 13:8-9; James 2:8;">[xr]

For what the flesh wants is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit wants is opposed to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, and so you do not do what you want to do.Romans 7:15,19, 23; 8:6-7;">[xr]

Brothers, if a person is caught doing something wrong, those of you who are spiritual should restore that person in a spirit of gentleness. Watch out for yourself so that you are not tempted as well.Romans 14:1; 15:1; 1 Corinthians 2:15; 3:1; 4:21; 7:5; 10:12; 2 Thessalonians 3:15; 2 Timothy 2:25; Hebrews 12:13; James 5:19;">[xr]

For the person who plants in his flesh will harvest decay from the flesh, but the person who plants in the Spirit will harvest eternal life from the Spirit.Job 1:4:8; Proverbs 11:18; 22:8; Hosea 8:7; 10:12; Romans 8:13; James 3:18;">[xr]
