Then the channels of the sea appeared,The foundations of the world were laid bareBy the rebuke of Yahweh,At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.

For all His judgments were before me,And as for His statutes, I did not depart from them.

Therefore Yahweh has recompensed me according to my righteousness,According to my cleanness before His eyes.

As for God, His way is blameless;The word of Yahweh is tried;He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.

God is my strong fortress;And He sets the blameless in His way.

He gives great salvation to His king,And shows lovingkindness to His anointed,To David and his seed forever."

"The Spirit of Yahweh spoke by me,And His word was on my tongue.

He arose and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary and clung to the sword, and Yahweh brought about a great salvation that day; and the people returned after him only to strip the slain.

But he took his stand in the midst of that portion and delivered it and struck down the Philistines. So Yahweh brought about a great salvation.

Then David said to Gad, "I am in great distress. Let us now fall into the hand of Yahweh, for His compassions are abundant. But do not let me fall into the hand of man."

Then the angel sent forth his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, and Yahweh relented of the calamity and said to the angel who destroyed the people, "It is enough! Now relax your hand!" And the angel of Yahweh was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

And Araunah looked down and saw the king and his servants crossing over toward him; and Araunah went out and bowed his face to the ground before the king.

Then Araunah said, "Why has my lord the king come to his servant?" And David said, "To buy the threshing floor from you, in order to build an altar to Yahweh, that the plague may be checked from being upon the people."

And Araunah said to David, "Let my lord the king take and offer up what is good in his sight. Look, the oxen for the burnt offering, the threshing sledges and the yokes of the oxen for the wood.

So his servants said to him, "Let them seek a young virgin for my lord the king, and let her stand before the king and become his nurse; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm."

But his father had never grieved him at any time by asking, "Why have you done so?" And he was also a very handsome man in form, and he was born after Absalom.

And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel; and he invited all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants.
