But of the children of Israel Solomon made no slaves; because they were his men of war and his servants and his princes and his mighty men and commanders of his chariots and his horsemen.

And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

And likewise did he for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.

And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,

But Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites from among his fathers servants into Egypt, Hadad being yet a little boy.

And Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

And the sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaohs house; and Genubath was in Pharaohs household among the sons of Pharaoh.

And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers and that Joab the commander of the army was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh. Let me depart that I may go to my own country.

God also stirred up against Solomon another adversary, Hidron the son of Eliadah, who had fled from his lord Hadarezer king of Zobah;

And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zedda, Solomons servant, whose mothers name was Zoriah, a widow, even he lifted up his hand against King Solomon.

And this was the reason why he lifted up his hand against King Solomon. When Solomon built Millo and repaired the breaches of the city of David,

Because he has forsaken me and has worshipped Ashtaroth the goddess of the Zidonians, and Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Malcom the god of the Ammonites, and has not walked in my ways and has not done that which is right in my eyes and has not kept my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

Nevertheless I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand; but I will make him a ruler all the days of his life for David my servants sake, whom I chose because he kept my commandments and my statutes;
