NASNew American Standard Bible
KJVKing James Version
Now the word of the LORD came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, saying,
Ezekiel 24:1
Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
"Son of man, write the name of the day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.
Ezekiel 24:2
Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.
"Present a parable to the rebellious house and say to them, 'This is what the Lord GOD says: "Put on the pot, put it on and also pour water into it;
Ezekiel 24:3
And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God ; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
Put in it the pieces of meat, Every good piece, the thigh and the shoulder; Fill it with choice bones.
Ezekiel 24:4
Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
"Take the choicest of the flock, And also stack wood under the pot. Make it boil vigorously. Also boil its bones in it."
Ezekiel 24:5
Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
'Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: "Woe to the bloody city, To the pot in which there is rust And whose rust has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, Without making a choice.
Ezekiel 24:6
Wherefore thus saith the Lord God ; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
"For her blood is in her midst; She placed it on the bare rock; She did not pour it on the ground To cover it with dust.
Ezekiel 24:7
For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
"So that it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have put her blood on the bare rock, So that it will not be covered."
Ezekiel 24:8
That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
'Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: "Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the wood pile great.
Ezekiel 24:9
Therefore thus saith the Lord God ; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
"Heap on the wood, kindle the fire, Cook the meat thoroughly And mix in the spices, And let the bones be burned up.
Ezekiel 24:10
Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
"Then set it empty on its burning coals So that it may be hot And its bronze may glow, And its filthiness may be melted in it, Its rust eliminated.
Ezekiel 24:11
Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.
"She has wearied Me with work, Yet her great rust has not gone from her; Let her rust be in the fire!
Ezekiel 24:12
She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.
"In your filthiness is outrageous sin. Because I would have cleansed you, Yet you are not clean, You will not be cleansed from your filthiness again Until I have expended My wrath on you.
Ezekiel 24:13
In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.
"I, the LORD, have spoken; it is coming and I will act. I will not overlook, I will not pity, and I will not be sorry; according to your ways and according to your deeds I will judge you," declares the Lord GOD.'"
Ezekiel 24:14
I the Lord have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord God .
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Ezekiel 24:15
Also the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
"Son of man, behold, I am about to take from you what is precious to your eyes with a fatal blow; but you shall not mourn and you shall not weep, and your tears shall not come.
Ezekiel 24:16
Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
"Groan silently; do no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban and put your sandals on your feet, and do not cover your mustache, and do not eat the bread of other people."
Ezekiel 24:17
Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.
So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. And in the morning I did as I was commanded.
Ezekiel 24:18
So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
And the people said to me, "Will you not tell us what these things mean for us, that you are doing?"
Ezekiel 24:19
And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?
Then I said to them, "The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Ezekiel 24:20
Then I answered them, The word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
'Speak to the house of Israel, "This is what the Lord GOD says: 'Behold, I am about to profane My sanctuary, the pride of your power, that which is precious in your eyes and the longing of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom you have left behind will fall by the sword.
Ezekiel 24:21
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God ; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
'And you will do just as I have done; you will not cover your mustache, and you will not eat the bread of other people.
Ezekiel 24:22
And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
'Your turbans will be on your heads, and your sandals on your feet. You will not mourn and you will not weep; but you will rot away in your guilty deeds, and you will groan to one another.
Ezekiel 24:23
And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.
'So Ezekiel will be a sign to you; according to all that he has done, you will do. When it comes, then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.'"
Ezekiel 24:24
Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord God .
'As for you, son of man, will it not be on the day when I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their splendor, that which is precious in their eyes and their heart's longing, their sons and their daughters,
Ezekiel 24:25
Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,
that on that day the one who escapes will come to you with information for your ears?
Ezekiel 24:26
That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
'On that day your mouth will be opened to him who escaped, and you will speak and no longer be silenced. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD.'"
Ezekiel 24:27
In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the Lord .
