Passage Lookup: Job 32

NASNew American Standard Bible
KJVKing James Version
Then these three men stopped answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
Job 32:1
So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
But the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, burned against Job; his anger burned because he justified himself before God.
Job 32:2
Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
And his anger burned against his three friends because they had found no answer, yet they had condemned Job.
Job 32:3
Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job because they were years older than he.
Job 32:4
Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.
But when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men, his anger burned.
Job 32:5
When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.
So Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite spoke out and said, "I am young in years and you are old; Therefore I was shy and afraid to tell you what I think.
Job 32:6
And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.
"I thought age should speak, And increased years should teach wisdom.
Job 32:7
I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.
"But it is a spirit that is in mankind, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.
Job 32:8
But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
"The abundant in years may not be wise, Nor may elders understand justice.
Job 32:9
Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.
"So I say, 'Listen to me, I too will tell what I think.'
Job 32:10
Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.
"Behold, I waited for your words, I listened to your skillful speech, While you pondered what to say.
Job 32:11
Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.
"I also paid close attention to you; But indeed, there was no one who refuted Job, Not one of you who answered his words.
Job 32:12
Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:
"So do not say, 'We have found wisdom: God will defeat him, not man.'
Job 32:13
Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.
"But he has not presented his words against me, Nor will I reply to him with your arguments.
Job 32:14
Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.
"They are dismayed, they no longer answer; Words have failed them.
Job 32:15
They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.
"Should I wait, because they are not speaking, Because they have stopped and no longer answer?
Job 32:16
When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)
"I too will give my share of answers; I also will tell my opinion.
Job 32:17
I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.
"For I am full of words; The spirit within me compels me.
Job 32:18
For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.
"Behold, my belly is like unvented wine; Like new wineskins, it is about to burst.
Job 32:19
Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.
"Let me speak so that I may get relief; Let me open my lips and answer.
Job 32:20
I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.
"Let me be partial to no one, Nor flatter any man.
Job 32:21
Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
"For I do not know how to flatter, Otherwise my Maker would quickly take me away.
Job 32:22
For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.
