"Can you drag out Leviathan with a fishhook, And press down his tongue with a rope?
Job 41:1
Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
"Can you put a rope in his nose, And pierce his jaw with a hook?
Job 41:2
Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
"Will he make many pleas to you, Or will he speak to you gentle words?
Job 41:3
Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?
"Will he make a covenant with you? Will you take him as a servant forever?
Job 41:4
Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
"Will you play with him as with a bird, And tie him down for your young girls?
Job 41:5
Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
"Will the traders bargain for him? Will they divide him among the merchants?
Job 41:6
Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
"Can you fill his skin with harpoons, Or his head with fishing spears?
Job 41:7
Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
"Lay your hand on him. Remember the battle; you will not do it again!
Job 41:8
Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
"Behold, your expectation is false; Will you be hurled down even at the sight of him?
Job 41:9
Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
"No one is so reckless that he dares to stir him; Who then is he who opposes Me?
Job 41:10
None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
"Who has been first to give to Me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the entire heaven is Mine.
Job 41:11
Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
"I will not be silent about his limbs, Or his mighty strength, or his graceful frame.
Job 41:12
I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
"Who can strip off his outer covering? Who can pierce his double armor?
Job 41:13
Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?
"Who can open the doors of his face? Around his teeth there is terror.
Job 41:14
Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
"His strong scales are his pride, Locked as with a tight seal.
Job 41:15
His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
"One is so close to another That no air can come between them.
Job 41:16
One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
"They are joined one to another; They clasp each other and cannot be separated.
Job 41:17
They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
"His sneezes flash forth light, And his eyes are like the eye of dawn.

By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
"From his mouth go burning torches; Sparks of fire leap forth.

Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
"From his nostrils smoke goes out As from a boiling pot and burning reeds.
Job 41:20
Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
"His breath sets coals aglow, And a flame goes forth from his mouth.
Job 41:21
His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
"In his neck dwells strength, And dismay leaps before him.
Job 41:22
In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
"The folds of his flesh are joined together, Firm and immovable on him.

The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
"His heart is as firm as a stone, And as firm as a lower millstone.
Job 41:24
His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
"When he rises up, the mighty are afraid; Because of the crashing they are bewildered.
Job 41:25
When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
"The sword that reaches him cannot prevail, Nor the spear, the dart, or the javelin.
Job 41:26
The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
"He regards iron as straw, Bronze as rotten wood.
Job 41:27
He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
"The arrow cannot make him flee; Slingstones are turned into stubble for him.
Job 41:28
The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
"Clubs are regarded as stubble; He laughs at the rattling of the javelin.
Job 41:29
Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
"His underparts are like sharp pieces of pottery; He spreads out like a threshing sledge on the mud.
Job 41:30
Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
"He makes the depths boil like a pot; He makes the sea like a jar of ointment.
Job 41:31
He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
"Behind him he illuminates a pathway; One would think the deep to be gray-haired.
Job 41:32
He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
"Nothing on earth is like him, One made without fear.
Job 41:33
Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
"He looks on everything that is high; He is king over all the sons of pride."
Job 41:34
He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
