There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
Luke 13:1
Now on that very occasion there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.
And he answered them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way?
Luke 13:2
And Jesus responded and said to them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans just because they have suffered this fate?
No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
Luke 13:3
"No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem?
Luke 13:4
"Or do you think that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse offenders than all the other people who live in Jerusalem?
No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."
Luke 13:5
"No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."
And he told this parable: "A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.
Luke 13:6
And He began telling this parable: "A man had a fig tree which had been planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and did not find any.
And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?'
Luke 13:7
"And he said to the vineyard-keeper, 'Look! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree without finding any. Cut it down! Why does it even use up the ground?'
And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure.
Luke 13:8
"But he answered and said to him, 'Sir, leave it alone for this year too, until I dig around it and put in fertilizer;
Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.'"
Luke 13:9
and if it bears fruit next year, fine; but if not, cut it down.'"
Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
Luke 13:10
Now Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself.
Luke 13:11
And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent over double, and could not straighten up at all.
When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your disability."
Luke 13:12
When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your sickness."
And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God.

And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she stood up straight again, and began glorifying God.
But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day."
Luke 13:14
But the synagogue leader, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, "There are six days during which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day."
Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it?
Luke 13:15
But the Lord answered him and said, "You hypocrites, does each of you on the Sabbath not untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it away to water it?
And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?"
Luke 13:16
"And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this restraint on the Sabbath day?"
As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.
Luke 13:17
And as He said this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him.
He said therefore, "What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it?
Luke 13:18
So He was saying, "What is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it?
It is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches."
Luke 13:19
"It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and threw into his own garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the sky nested in its branches."
And again he said, "To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?
Luke 13:20
And again He said, "To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?
It is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened."
Luke 13:21
"It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three sata of flour until it was all leavened."
He went on his way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem.
Luke 13:22
And He was passing through one city and village after another, teaching, and proceeding on His way to Jerusalem.
And someone said to him, "Lord, will those who are saved be few?" And he said to them,
Luke 13:23
And someone said to Him, "Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?" And He said to them,
"Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
Luke 13:24
"Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,' then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.'
Luke 13:25
"Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin standing outside and knocking on the door, saying, 'Lord, open up to us!' and He then will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.'
Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.'
Luke 13:26
"Then you will begin saying, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets!'
But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of evil!'
Luke 13:27
And yet He will say, 'I do not know where you are from; LEAVE ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.'
In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves cast out.
Luke 13:28
"In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out.
And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God.
Luke 13:29
"And they will come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.
And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last."
Luke 13:30
"And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last."
At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, "Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you."
Luke 13:31
At that very time some Pharisees approached, saying to Him, "Go away and leave this place, because Herod wants to kill You."
And he said to them, "Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course.
Luke 13:32
And He said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I am casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I reach My goal.'
Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following, for it cannot be that a prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.'
Luke 13:33
"Nevertheless I must go on My journey today and tomorrow and the next day; for it cannot be that a prophet would perish outside Jerusalem.
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!
Luke 13:34
"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her young under her wings, and you were unwilling!
Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'"
Luke 13:35
"Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until you say, 'BLESSED IS THE ONE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!'"
