16 ထာဝရဘုရား မိန့်တော်မူသည်ကား၊ သင်သည် ဧကြုန်မြို့၏ ဘုရားဗလဇေဗုပ်၌ မေးမြန်းခြင်းငှါ အဘယ်ကြောင့် သံတမန်တို့ကိုစေလွှတ်သနည်း။ မေးမြန်းစရာဘို့ ဣသရေလပြည်၌ ဘုရားသခင်မရှိ သောကြောင့် ထိုသို့ပြုသလော။ သို့ဖြစ်၍ သင်သည် ယခုတက်သော သာလွန်ပေါ်က နောက်တဖန်မဆင်းရ။ စင်စစ်သေရ မည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူကြောင်းကို ဆင့်ဆို၏။

Baalzebub: Literally, "the lord of flies;" or, as the LXX render, בבכ לץובם טוןם, Baal the fly god. See note on Exodus 8:24.

on which thou art gone up: In the East there is usually at the end of each chamber a little gallery, raised three or four feet above the floor, with a balustrade in front, to which they go up by a few steps: here they place their beds; an allusion to which situation is involved in this declaration of Elijah's, and frequently referred to in the Sacred Scriptures. See note on Genesis 49:4. 2 Kings 5:21, Psalms 132:3
