When the people heard the thunder and the trumpet, and when they saw the lightning and the smoke rising from the mountain, they shook with fear and stood far away from the mountain.

The Lord said to Satan, "All right, then. Everything Job has is in your power, but you must not touch Job himself." Then Satan left the Lord 's presence.
So Satan left the Lord 's presence. He put painful sores on Job's body, from the top of his head to the soles of his feet.
They will not admire the sparkling streams or the rivers flowing with honey and cream.
But let everyone who trusts you be happy; let them sing glad songs forever. Protect those who love you and who are happy because of you.
Blow them away as smoke is driven away by the wind. As wax melts before a fire, let the wicked be destroyed before God.

and I fled today out of the army; so that as he was an eyewitness of what was done in the army, the account he brought was the earliest that could be had, in bringing which he had made great dispatch, having ran perhaps all the way:
and he said, what is there done, my son? has a battle been fought? on which side is the victory? is Israel beaten, or have they conquered? how do things go? he uses the kind and tender appellation, my son, to engage him to tell him all freely and openly.
