Bible Verse Review
from Treasury of Scripure Knowledge
Lachish: Lachish was also situated in the south of Judah, seven miles south from Eleutheropolis, according to Eusebius and Jerome. It appears to have been anciently a very strong place; for though the people were panic struck, and the Israelites flushed with success, yet Joshua could not reduce it till the second day; and the king of Assyria afterwards was obliged to raise the siege. Joshua 10:3, Joshua 10:5, Joshua 12:11, Joshua 15:39, 2 Kings 19:8, 2 Chronicles 11:9, Isaiah 37:8, Micah 1:13
Reciprocal: 2 Kings 14:19 - fled to Lachish 2 Chronicles 25:27 - Lachish 2 Chronicles 32:9 - Lachish

Gill's Notes on the Bible

and encamped against it, and fought against it; for it seems this city stood out, and would not surrender at once, which obliged Joshua to encamp about it, and besiege it.
