Wanneer iemand bevonden wordt te slapen bij ene vrouw, die een echten man heeft, zo zullen zij beiden sterven, de man en de vrouw, bij welke hij geslapen heeft; en gij zult het kwade uit Isral wegdoen.
Wanneer een man gevonden zal worden, liggende bij eens mans getrouwde vrouw, zo zullen zij ook beiden sterven, de man, die bij de vrouw gelegen heeft, en de vrouw; zo zult gij het boze uit Israel wegdoen.

If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband,..... This law respects adultery, and is the same with that in
Leviticus 20:10
then they shall both of them die; with the strangling of a napkin, as the Targum of Jonathan, which is the death such persons were put to; and is always meant when death is simply spoken of, and it is not specified what death; Leviticus 20:10- ::
both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman; they were both to die, and to die the same death:
so shalt thou put away evil from Israel; such that do it, as the above Targum; Leviticus 20:10- :.

Verse Deuteronomy 22:22. Shall both of them die — Thus we find that in the most ancient of all laws adultery was punished with death in both the parties.
