The singers Heman, Asaph, and Ethan were to sound the bronze cymbals; So the singers, Heman, Asaf, and Etan, [were appointed] with cymbals of brass to sound aloud; So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass; The singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were to sound bronze cymbals; The singers Heman, Asaph, and Ethan played bronze cymbals. Now these were all those who stood by the gates and sang: Heman, Asaph, and Ethan. Now the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were to sound bronze cymbals; And the singers were Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, to sound with cymbals of bronze; For Heman, Assaph and Ethan were syngers, with brasen belles makynge a loude noyse: So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed, with cymbals of brass to sound aloud; So those who made melody, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were put in position, with brass instruments, sounding loudly; So Heman, Asaph, and Ethan the singers, made a sounde with cymbales of brasse. So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, [were appointed,] with cymbals of brass to sound aloud; So the Singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbales of brasse. So the singers, Heman, Asaph and Ethan were appointed to sound aloud cymbals of bronze;

Gill's Notes on the Bible

So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan,.... The three principal of them: these were appointed

to sound with cymbals of brass; for as there were three sorts of musical instruments, 1 Chronicles 15:16 these three chief singers had one of those instruments appropriated to them, one of which were the cymbals of brass, to which the apostle alludes, 1 Corinthians 13:1.
