1 Corinthians 4:18

Now some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. Nowe some are puffed vp as though I would not come to you. Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. Some of you have become proud, thinking that I will not come to you again. Now some of you have become arrogant and pretentious, as though I were not coming to see you. Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. Now some have become puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. Some of you have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you. Some of you think I am not coming for a visit, and so you are bragging. When I didn't come to visit you, some of you became arrogant. But some have been puffed up, as if I were not coming to you; Some of you are acting so proud, it seems as though you think I won't be coming there again. Some are puffed vp as though I woulde not come vnto you. There are some among you who are puffed up, thinking I am unwilling to come to you. Some of you have become proud because you have thought that I would not be coming to visit you. But some have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you. As to my not coming to you now, some were puffed up. Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. Now some are full of pride, as if I was not coming to you. Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. Some of you have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.1 Corinthians 5:2;">[xr] But as if I were not coming to you, some of you are inflated. 18 Now some of you are inflated, as though I would not [fn] come to you. Some swel as though I would come no more at you: Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. Now some are puffed up, as if I would not come to you. But some of you have been puffed up through getting the idea that I am not coming to Corinth. As thouy Y schulde not come to you, so summe ben blowun with pride; Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. Some have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you. Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. Some of you have become arrogant, thinking I will not visit you again. Some of you are full of pride. You think that I am not coming to visit you. But some of you, thinking that I am not coming to you, have become arrogant. But, as though I were not coming unto you, some are puffed up! As if I would not come to you, so some are puffed up. Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. Some swell as though I wolde come no more at you. And as if I were not coming unto you certain were puffed up; And some were puffed up as if I were not coming to you; Some are puft vp, as though I wolde come nomore at you. Some make their boast as if I would not come to you. I know there are some among you who are so full of themselves they never listen to anyone, let alone me. They don't think I'll ever show up in person. But I'll be there sooner than you think, God willing, and then we'll see if they're full of anything but hot air. God's Way is not a matter of mere talk; it's an empowered life. But some of you have become full of yourselves. Like a bully at the playground, you think the teacher is gone,

Gill's Notes on the Bible

Now some are puffed up,.... Some with their gifts, learning, and eloquence, and with the high station they were in, in the church; believing they should continue therein undisturbed, thinking them selves safe and secure through the absence of the apostle, and which they flattered themselves would always be the case:

as though I would not come to you; and others that were for Apollos and Cephas against Paul, were puffed up against their fellow members on the same account; hoping they should never see him more, to put them in any other situation than what they were in, by demolishing their factions and parties; and others, as the incestuous person, and those that took encouragement to sin by his example, were also puffed up upon this score, and mourned not over, nor repented of their iniquities, but remained secure and hardened; believing the apostle would never more come among them, to call them to an account for their malpractices.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

Now some are puffed up - They are puffed up with a vain confidence; they say that I would not dare to come; that I would be afraid to appear among them, to administer discipline, to rebuke them, or to supersede their authority. Probably he had been detained by the demand on his services in other places, and by various providential hinderances from going there, until they supposed that he stayed away from fear. And possibly he might apprehend that they would think he had sent Timothy because he was afraid to come himself. Their conduct was an instance of the haughtiness and arrogance which people will assume when they suppose they are in no danger of reproof or punishment.

Clarke's Notes on the Bible

Verse 18. Some are puffed up — Some of your teachers act with great haughtiness, imagining themselves to be safe, because they suppose that I shall not revisit Corinth.
