David asked him, “Where have you come from?” David said to him, From whence come you? He said to him, Out of the camp of Yisra'el am I escaped. And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped. David said to him, "Where did you come from?" He said to him, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel." David said to him, "Where do you come from?" And he said to him, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel." David asked him, "Where did you come from?" The man answered, "I escaped from the Israelite camp." David asked him, "Where are you coming from?" He replied, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel." Then David asked him, "Where do you come from?" He said, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel." Then David said to him, "From where do you come?" And he said to him, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel." Then Dauid saide vnto him, Whence commest thou? And he said vnto him, Out of the host of Israel I am escaped. Then David said to him, "From where do you come?" And he said to him, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel." David asked, "Where did you come from?" The man answered, "From Israel's army. I barely escaped with my life." David said to him, "Where are you coming from?" "I escaped from the camp of Isra'el," he replied. And David said to him, Whence comest thou? And he said to him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped. David asked him, "Where have you come from?" The man answered, "I just came from the Israelite camp." And David said to him, Where do you come from? And he replied, Out of the camp of Israel have I escaped. David asked him, "Where have you come from?" "I have escaped from the Israelite camp," he answered. And David said to him, From where do you come? And he said to him, I have escaped out of the camp of Israel. Dauid sayde vnto him: Whence commest thou? He sayde vnto him: Out of the hoost of Israel am I fled. And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped. And David said to him, Where have you come from? And he said, I have come in flight from the tents of Israel. Dauid sayde vnto him: whence comest thou? He sayde vnto him: Out of the hoast of Israel I am escaped. And David said unto him: 'From whence comest thou?' And he said unto him: 'Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.' And Dauid said vnto him, From whence commest thou? And he said vnto him, Out of the campe of Israel am I escaped. And David said to him, Whence comest thou? and he said to him, I have escaped out of the camp of Israel. And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped. "Where have you come from?" David asked. "I have escaped from the Israelite camp," he replied. And Dauid seide to hym, Fro whennus comest thou? Which seide to Dauid, Y fledde fro the castels of Israel. And David saith to him, `Whence comest thou?' and he saith unto him, `Out of the camp of Israel I have escaped.' And David said to him, Where do you come from? And he said to him, Out of the camp of Israel I have escaped. And David said to him, From whence comest thou? And he said to him, Out of the camp of Israel have I escaped. David said to him, From whence come you? He said to him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped. And David said to him, "Where have you come from?" So he said to him, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel." "Where have you come from?" David asked. "I escaped from the Israelite camp," the man replied. Shortly after Saul died, David returned to Ziklag from his rout of the Amalekites. Three days later a man showed up unannounced from Saul's army camp. Disheveled and obviously in mourning, he fell to his knees in respect before David. David asked, "What brings you here?" He answered, "I've just escaped from the camp of Israel." Then David said to him, "From where do you come?" And he said to him, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel."

And David said unto him, from whence comest thou?.... It is very likely by his appearance and circumstances he suspected from whence he came:

and he said unto him, out of the camp of Israel am I escaped; which plainly suggested that that was in danger, confusion, and distress.
