We're the best of friends, and I pray for good fortune in everything you do, and for your good health—that your everyday affairs prosper, as well as your soul! I was most happy when some friends arrived and brought the news that you persist in following the way of Truth. Nothing could make me happier than getting reports that my children continue diligently in the way of Truth!

3 For I reioyced greatly when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, euen as thou walkest in the trueth.
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. 3 For (c)I rejoiced greatly when the brothers[a] came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth.3 For I (C1)was overjoyed when (C2)brothers came and testified to your truth, that is, how you (C1)are walking in truth. 3 I was very happy when some brothers and sisters came and told me about the truth in your life and how you are following the way of truth. 3 For I (C1)was very glad when (C2)brethren came and testified to your truth, that is, how you (C1)are walking in truth.
3 For I was overjoyed when the brothers came and testified about your devotion to the truth, in which you continue to walk. 3 It makes me very happy when the Lord's followers come by and speak openly of how you obey the truth. 3 For I was so happy when some brothers came and testified how faithful you are to the truth, as you continue living in the truth.
3 For I rejoiced exceedingly when [the] brethren came and bore testimony to thy [holding fast the] truth, even as *thou* walkest in truth. 3 Some believers came and told me about the truth[b] in your life. They told me that you continue to follow the way of truth. This made me very happy.
3 For I reioyced greatly when the brethren came, and testified of the trueth that is in thee, how thou walkest in the trueth.
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified concerning the truth that is in you, even as you live a true life. 3 I was so happy when some Christians arrived and told me how faithful you are to the truth—just as you always live in the truth. 3 For I rejoiced exceedingly when the[a] brothers came and testified to your truth, just as you are walking in the truth.
3 For I rejoiced greatly at the coming of the brothers, also bearing witness of you in the truth, as you walk in truth.3 For I (C1)was greatly pleased when some of the (C2)brothers came from time to time and testified to your faithfulness to the truth of the gospel message, that is, how you are walking in truth. 3 For I [a]rejoiced greatly, when brethren came and bare witness unto thy truth, even as thou walkest in truth.
3 For it gave me great joy when some of the brothers came and gave witness that you had the true faith and were walking in the true way.
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when brothers came and testified about your truth, even as you walk in truth.
3 For I was overjoyed when some brothers arrived and testified about your truthfulness and how you live according to the truth.[xr]
3 For I have rejoiced greatly when the brethren have come, and have testified concerning thy integrity, even as in the truth thou walkest.

3 For I rejoiced exceedingly, at brethren coming and bearing witness unto thy truth, - even as, thou, in truth, art walking.
3 I was exceedingly glad when the brethren came and gave testimony to the truth in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
3 For I greatly rejoiced when some of the brethren arrived and testified to the truth of your life, as indeed you do follow the truth.

3 For I was greatly pleased when the brethren came and assured me of your fidelity and religious conduct. 3 I sure was glad when some of the boys showed up and told me about how faithful you'd been to the truth. 4 I have no greater joy(C1) than this: to hear that my children(C2) are walking in truth.

5 Dear friend, you are acting faithfully in whatever you do for the brothers and sisters, especially when they are strangers. 5 Beloued, thou doest faithfully whatsoeuer thou doest to the Brethren, and to strangers:
5 Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
Support and Opposition
5 Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for (e)these brothers, (f)strangers as they are,
5 Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the (C1)brothers and sisters, and (F1)especially when they are (C2)strangers;
5 My dear friend, it is good that you help the brothers and sisters, even those you do not know. 5-8 Dear friend, when you extend hospitality to Christian brothers and sisters, even when they are strangers, you make the faith visible. They've made a full report back to the church here, a message about your love. It's good work you're doing, helping these travelers on their way, hospitality worthy of God himself! They set out under the banner of the Name, and get no help from unbelievers. So they deserve any support we can give them. In providing meals and a bed, we become their companions in spreading the Truth.
5 Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the (C1)brethren, and (F1)especially when they are (C2)strangers;

5 My dear friend, it is good that you continue to help the believers. They are people you don't even know.5 Beloued, thou doest faithfully, whatsoeuer thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers,5 Our beloved, you do faithfully that which you do to the brethren, especially to those who are strangers;

5 My dear friend, you are so faithful in the work you do for other Christians, even when they are strangers.
Instructions to Gaius

5 Dear friend, you demonstrate faithfulness by whatever you do for the brothers (even though they are strangers). 5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and [fn] for strangers,
Caring for the Lord's Workers
5 Dear friend, you are being faithful to God when you care for the traveling teachers who pass through, even though they are strangers to you.
5 Dear friend, you are doing a good work by being kind to the Christians, and for sure, to the strangers.
5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the friends,[b] even though they are strangers to you; 5 Beloved! a faithful thing, art thou doing, whatsoever thou shalt accomplish for them that are brethren, and withal strangers, - 5 Dearly beloved, thou dost faithfully whatever thou dost for the brethren: and that for strangers,5 Beloved, it is a loyal thing you do when you render any service to the brethren, especially to strangers,5 Beloved thou doest faythfully what soever thou doest to the brethren and to straungers5 Beloved, faithfully dost thou do whatever thou mayest work to the brethren and to the strangers,5 Beloved, you act faithfully in whatever you may do toward the brothers and the one [among] strangers,5 My beloued, thou doest faithfully what so euer thou doest to the brethren and to straugers,5 My dear child, whatever you do in behalf of the brethren, and of those who are strangers, is commendable.
5 Listen, my friend. I want to thank you for taking such good care of the other cowboys, even if you don't know them. Taking Care of God's Hands
6 Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: 6 who testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their journey in a manner (g)worthy of God.6 and they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to (F1)(C1)send them on their way in a manner (C2)worthy of God. 6 They told the church about your love. Please help them to continue their trip in a way worthy of God. 6 and they have testified to your love before the church.
