THE MESSAGE
That's when God spoke in holy splendor: "Brimming over with joy, I make a present of Shechem, I hand out Succoth Valley as a gift. Gilead's in my pocket, to say nothing of Manasseh. Ephraim's my hard hat, Judah my hammer. Moab's a scrub bucket— I mop the floor with Moab, Spit on Edom, rain fireworks all over Philistia."
New American Standard Bible (1995)
God has spoken in His holiness: "I will exult, I will portion out Shechem And measure out the valley of Succoth.

Contextual Overview

6 Be Thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; and Thy glory be above all the earth. 7 That Thy beloved may be delivered, save with Thy right hand, and answer me. 8 God spoke in His holiness, that I would exult; that I would divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. 9 Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the defence of my head; Judah is my sceptre. 10 Moab is my washpot; upon Edom do I cast my shoe; over Philistia do I cry aloud. 11 Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will lead me unto Edom? 12 Hast not Thou cast us off, O God? and Thou goest not forth, O God, with our hosts? 13 Give us help against the adversary; for vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly; for He it is that will tread down our adversaries.

Clarke's Notes on the Bible

Verse Psalms 108:7. God hath spoken in his holiness — בקדשו bekodsho; some think this means in his Holy One, referring to the Prophet Jeremiah, who predicted the captivity, its duration of seventy years, and the deliverance from it.
