¹ And these were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: the first-born, Amnon, born to Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second, Daniel, to Abigail of Carmel; ² the third, Absalom, the son of Maachah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur; the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; ³ the fifth, Shephatiah, to Abital. The sixth, Ithream, to his wife Eglah. ⁴ These six were born to him in Hebron. And he reigned there seven years and six months. Verse 1 Chronicles 3:6. Elishama, and Eliphelet — this and the eighth verse these two names occur twice; some think this is a mistake, but others suppose that two persons of these names died young, and that the next born received the name of the deceased. - See Jarchi.
