So while Jeroboam was in front of Judah's army, Jeroboam's soldiers were behind them. 13 Now Jeroboam had sent some men to ambush the Judahite army from behind. The main army was in front of the Judahite army; the ambushers were behind it. 13But Jeroboam had set an ambush to come from the rear, so that Israel was in front of Judah and the ambush was behind them. 13 But Jeroboam had set an ambush to come from behind, so that Israel was in front of Judah and the ambush was behind them. 13 But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them. 13 But Ieroboam caused an ambushment to compasse, and come behind them, when they were before Iudah, and the ambushment behinde them.

Then the men of Judah gave a shout,.... Taking heart at the sound of the trumpets, and in order to encourage one another, and intimidate the enemy; :-,

and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah; possessed them with a panic, so that they fled at once, as follows.
