¹² And now Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to feare the Lorde thy God, and to walke in all his wayes, to loue hym, and to serue the Lord thy God with all thyne heart, and with all thy soule? ¹³ Namely, that thou kepe the comaundementes of the Lorde, and his ordinaunces whiche I commaunde thee this day for thy wealth. ¹⁴ Beholde, heauen and the heauen of heauens, is the Lordes thy God, and the earth with all that therin is. ¹⁵ Notwithstandyng, the Lorde had a delight in thy fathers to loue them, and chose their seede after them, euen you aboue all nations, as thou seest this day. ¹⁶ Circumcise therefore the foreskinne of your heart, and be no more stifnecked. ¹⁷ For the Lorde your God, is God of Gods, and Lorde of Lordes, a great God, a mightie and a terrible, whiche regardeth no mans person, nor taketh rewarde. ¹⁸ He doth right vnto the fatherlesse and wydowe, and loueth the straunger, to geue hym foode and rayment. ¹⁹ Loue ye therfore the straunger also: for ye were straungers your selues in the lande of Egypt. ²⁰ Thou shalt feare the Lord thy God, and hym only shalt thou serue, to hym shalt thou cleaue, and sweare by his name. ²¹ He is thy prayse, & thy God that hath done for thee these great and terrible thinges whiche thyne eyes haue seene.

He is thy praise,.... The object and matter of it, who deserves the praises of all his creatures, because of his perfections, works, and blessings of goodness; for all mercies temporal and spiritual come from him, and therefore he is greatly to be praised for them: praise is his due, and it is comely in his people to give it to him; see Jeremiah 17:14

and he is thy God which hath done for thee these great and terrible things which thine eyes have seen; which were done upon the Egyptians for their sakes, both in the land of Egypt and at the Red sea; and also what he had done for them in the wilderness, to Sihon and Og, kings of the Amorites, Psalms 106:22.

Verse Deuteronomy 10:21. He is thy praise — It is an eternal honour to any soul to be in the friendship of God. Why are people ashamed of being thought religious? Because they know nothing of religion. He who knows his Maker may glory in his God, for without him what has any soul but disgrace, pain, shame, and perdition? How strange is it that those who fear God should be ashamed to own it, while sinners boldly proclaim their relationship to Satan!
