Orang-orang itu datang dan berkata kepada-Nya: "Guru, kami tahu, Engkau adalah seorang yang jujur, dan Engkau tidak takut kepada siapapun juga, sebab Engkau tidak mencari muka, melainkan dengan jujur mengajar jalan Allah dengan segala kejujuran. Apakah diperbolehkan membayar pajak kepada Kaisar atau tidak? Haruskah kami bayar atau tidak?"
Maka datanglah mereka itu kepada Yesus, lalu berkata kepada-Nya, "Ya Guru, kami tahu, bahwa Guru seorang yang benar, serta tiada mengindahkan seorang jua pun, karena Guru tiada menilik rupa orang, melainkan jalan Allah Tuan ajarkan dengan sebenarnya. Patutkah membayar uang upeti kepada Kaisar atau tiada? Harus kami beri atau tiadakah?"

they said unto him, master; they saluted him in like manner, as they did their doctors and Rabbins, calling him "Rabbi", though they were not his disciples; but one part of them were the disciples of the Pharisees, and the other had Herod for their master;
