span data-lang="urd" data-trans="ulb" data-ref="mat.21.1" class="versetxt"> 1 اور جب وہ یروشلِیم کے نزدِیک پُہنچے اور زیتُون کے پہاڑ پر بیت فگے کے پاس آئے تو یِسُوع نے دو شاگِردوں کو یہ کہہ کر بھیجا کہ2 اپنے سامنے کے گاؤں میں جاؤ۔ وہ 3 اور اگر کوئی تُم سے کُچھ کہے تو کہنا کہ خُداوند کو اِن کی ضرُورت ہے۔ وہ فِی الفَور اُنہِیں بھیج دے گا۔4 یہ اِس لِئے ہُؤا کہ جو نبی کی معرفت کہا گیا تھا وہ پُورا ہو کہ5 صیّہُون کی بیٹی سے کہو کہ دیکھ تیرا بادشاہ تیرے پاس آتا ہے۔ وہ حلِیم ہے اور گدھے پر سوار ہے بلکہ لادُو کے بچّے پر۔6 پَس شاگِردوں نے جا کر جَیسا یِسُوع نے اُن کو حُکم دِیا تھا ویسا ہی کِیا۔7 اور گدھی اور بچّے کو لاکر اپنے کپڑے اُن پر ڈالے اور وہ اُن پر بَیٹھ گیا۔8 اور بھِیڑ میں کے اکثر لوگوں نے اپنے کپڑے راستہ میں بِچھائے اور اَوروں نے دَرختوں سے ڈالِیاں کاٹ کر راہ میں پھیلائِیں۔9 اور بھِیڑ جو اُس کے آگے آگے جاتی اور پِیچھے پِیچھے چلی آتی تھی پُکار پُکار کر کہتی تھی اِبنِ داؤد کو ہوشعنا۔ مُبارک ہے وہ جو خُداوند کے نام سے آتا ہے۔ عالمِ بالا پر ہوشعنا۔10 اور جب وہ یروشلِیم میں داخِل ہُؤا تو سارے شہر میں ہل چل پڑ گئی اور لوگ کہنے لگے یہ کون ہے؟11 بھِیڑ کے لوگوں نے کہا یہ گلِیل کے ناصرۃ کا نبی یِسُوع ہے۔12 اور یِسُوع نے خُدا کی ہَیکل میں داخِل ہوکر اُن سب کو نِکال دِیا جو ہَیکل میں خرِیدوفروخت کررہے تھے اور صرّافوں کے تختے اور کبُوتر فروشوں کی چوکیاں اُلٹ دِیں۔13 اور اُن سے کہا لِکھا ہے کہ میرا گھر دُعا کا گھر کہلائے گا مگر تُم اُسے ڈاکووَں کی کھوہ بناتے ہو۔14 اور اَندھے اور لنگڑے ہَیکل میں اُس کے پاس آئے اور اُس نے اُنہِیں اچھّا کِیا۔15 لیکِن جب سَردارکاہِنوں اور فقِیہوں نے اُن عجِیب کاموں کو جو اُس نے کِئے اور لڑکوں کو ہَیکل میں اِبنِ داؤد کو ہوشعنا پُکارتے دیکھا تو خفا ہوکر اُس سے کہنے لگے۔16 تُو سُنتا ہے کہ یہ کیا کہتے ہیں؟ یِسُوع نے اُن سے کہا ہاں۔ کیا تُم نے یہ کبھی نہِیں پڑھا کہ بچّوں اور شِیرخواروں کے مُنہ سے تُونے حمد کو کامِل کرایا؟17اور وہ اُنہِیں چھوڑ کر شہر سے باہِر بیت عنِیاہ میں گیا اور رات کو وہِیں رہا۔18 اور جب صُبح کو پھِر شہر کو جا رہا تھا اُسے بھُوک لگی۔19 اور راہ کے کِنارے اِنجیر کا ایک دَرخت دیکھ کر اُس کے پاس گیا اور پتّوں کے سِوا اُس میں کُچھ نہ پاکر اُس سے کہا کہ آیندہ تُجھ میں کبھی پھَل نہ لگے اور اِنجیر کا دَرخت اُسی دم سُوکھ گیا۔20شاگِردوں نے یہ دیکھ کر تعّجُب کِیا اور کہا یہ اِنجیر کا دَرخت کیونکر ایک دم میں سُوکھ گیا!21 یِسُوع نے جواب میں اُن سے کہا مَیں تُم سے سَچ کہتا ہُوں کہ اگر اِیمان رکھّو اور شک نہ کرو تو نہ صِرف وُہی کرو گے جو اِنجیر کے دَرخت کے ساتھ ہُؤا بلکہ اگر اِس پہاڑ سے بھی کہو گے کہ تُو اُکھڑ جا اور سُمندر میں جا پڑ تو یُوں ہی ہو جائے گا۔22 اور جو کُچھ دُعا میں اِیمان کے ساتھ مانگو گے وہ سب تُم کو مِلے گا۔23 اور جب وہ ہَیکل میں آ کر تعلِیم دے رہا تھا تو سَردارکاہِنوں اور قَوم کے بُزُرگوں نے اُس کے پاس آ کر کہا تُو اِن کاموں کو کِس اِختیّار سے کرتا ہے؟ اور یہ اِختیّار تُجھے کِس نے دِیا ہے؟24 یِسُوع نے جواب میں اُن سے کہا میں بھی تُم سے ایک بات پُوچھتا ہُوں۔ اگر وہ مُجھے بتاؤ گے تو میں بھی تُم کو بتاؤں گا کہ اِن کاموں کو کِس اِختیّار سے کرتا ہُوں۔25 یُوحنّا کا بپتِسمہ کہاں سے تھا؟ آسمان کی طرف سے یا اِنسان کی طرف سے؟ وہ آپس میں صلاح کرنے لگے کہ اگر ہم کہیں آسمان کی طرف سے تو وہ ہم سے کہے گا پھِر تُم نے کِیُوں اُس کا یقین نہ کِیا؟26اور اگر کہیں اِنسان کی طرف سے تو ہم عوام سے ڈرتے ہیں کِیُونکہ سب یُوحنّا کو نبی جانتے ہیں۔27 پَس اُنہوں نے جواب میں یِسُوع سے کہا ہم نہِیں جانتے۔ اُس نے بھی اُن سے کہا میں بھی تُم کو نہِیں بتاتا کہ اِن کاموں کو کِس اِختیّار سے کرتا ہُوں۔28 تُم کیا سَمَجھتے ہو؟ ایک آدمِی کے دو بَیٹے تھے۔ اُس نے پہلے کے پاس جا کر کہا بَیٹا جا آج تاکِستان میں کام کر۔29 اُس نے جواب میں کہا میں نہِیں جاؤنگا مگر پِیچھے پچھتا کر گیا۔30پھِر دُوسرے کے پاس جا کر اُس نے اِسی طرح کہا۔ اُس نے جواب دِیا اچھّا جناب۔ مگر گیا نہِیں۔31 اِن دونوں میں سے کون اپنے باپ کی مرضی بجا لایا؟ اُنہوں نے کہا پہلا۔ یِسُوع نے اُن سے کہا مَیں تُم سے سَچ کہتا ہُوں کہ محصُول لینے والے اور کسبِیاں تُم سے پہلے خُدا کی بادشاہی میں داخِل ہوتی ہیں۔32 کِیُونکہ یُوحنّا راستبازی کے طرِیق پر تُمہارے پاس آیا اور تُم نے اُس کا یقِین نہ کِیا مگر محصُول لینے والوں اور کسبِیوں نے اُس کا یقِین کِیا اور تُم یہ دیکھ کر پِیچھے بھی نہ پچھتائے کہ اُس کا یقِین کر لیتے۔33 ایک اور تِمثیل سُنو۔ ایک گھر کا مالِک تھا جِس نے تاکِستان لگایا اور اُس کی چاروں طرف اِحاطہ گھیرا اور اُس میں حوض کھودا اور بُرج بنایا اور اُسے باغبانوں کو ٹھیکے پر دے کر پردیس چلا گیا۔34 اور جب پھَل کا موسم قرِیب آیا تو اُس نے اپنے نَوکروں کو باغبانوں کے پاس اپنا پھَل لینے کو بھیجا۔35 اور باغبانوں نے اُس کے نَوکروں کو پکڑ کر کِسی کو پِیٹا اور کِسی کو قتل کِیا اور کِسی کو سنگسار کِیا۔36 پھِر اُس نے اور نَوکروں کو بھیجا جو پہلوں سے زیادہ تھے اور اُنہوں نے اِن کے ساتھ بھی وُہی سُلُوک کِیا۔37 آخِر اُس نے اپنے بَیٹے کو اُن کے پاس یہ کہہ کر بھیجا کہ وہ میرے بَیٹے کا تو لِحاظ کریں گے۔38 جب باغبانوں نے بَیٹے کو دیکھا تو آپس میں کہا یہی وارِث ہے۔ آؤ اِسے قتل کر کے اِس کی مِیراث پر قبضہ کرلیں۔39 اور اُسے پکڑ کر تاکِستان سے باہِر نِکالا اور قتل کر دِیا۔40 پَس جب تاکِستان کا مالِک آئے گا تو اُن باغبانوں کے ساتھ کیا کرے گا؟41 اُنہوں نے اُس سے کہا اُن بدکاروں کو بُری طرح ہلاک کرے گا اور تاکِستان کا ٹھیکہ دُوسرے باغبانوں کو دے گا جو موسم پر اُس کو پھَل دیں۔42یِسُوع نے اُن سے کہا کیا تُم نے کِتابِ مُقدّس میں کبھی نہِیں پڑھا کہ جِس پتھّر کو مِعماروں نے ردّ کِیا۔ وُہی کونے کے سِرے کا پتھّر ہوگیا۔ یہ خُداوند کی طرف سے ہُؤا اور ہماری نظر میں عجِیب ہے؟43 اِس لِئے مَیں تُم سے کہتا ہُوں کہ خُدا کی بادشاہی تُم سے لے لی جائے گی اور اُس قَوم کو جو اُس کے پھَل لائے دے دی جائے گی۔44 اور جو اِس پتھّر پر گِرے گا ٹُکڑے ٹُکڑے ہو جائے گا لیکِن جِس پر وہ گِرے گا اُسے پِیس ڈالے گا۔45اور جب سَردارکاہِنوں اور فرِیسِیوں نے اُس کی تِمثیلیں سُنِیں تو سَمَجھ گئے کہ ہمارے حق میں کہتا ہے۔46اور وہ اُسے پکڑنے کی کوشِش میں تھے لیکِن لوگوں سے ڈرتے تھے کِیُونکہ وہ اُسے نبی جانتے تھے۔

He answered and said, I will not,.... Which answer fitly expresses the language and practice of openly profane and unregenerate sinners, who will not come to Christ, that they may have life; nor will they serve the Lord, but are bent upon indulging their lusts; nor will they be subject to the law of God; nor will they hear and receive the Gospel of Christ, or submit to his ordinances, and are averse to every good work: where is man's free will? this is the true picture of it; man has no will naturally to that which is good.

But afterward he repented, and went: a change of mind was wrought in him, and this produced a change of life and conversation: so, many of the publicans and sinners repented of their sins of disobedience, and rebellion against God, under the ministry of John the Baptist, Christ, and his apostles; not of themselves, men do not naturally see their sin, or need of repentance; their hearts are hard and obdurate; nor have they any spiritual sense and feeling: nothing will bring them to repentance, not the most powerful ministry, the severest judgments, or the kindest mercies, without the grace of God: but it was of God, and owing to his powerful and efficacious grace, that they repented: it was his will they should come to repentance: he called them to it, and gave it to them, as a free grace gift of his: and they repented not in a mere legal way, with a legal repentance, which lies in a mere conviction of the outward acts of sin; in an external sorrow for it, in horror and terror of mind about it, and in shedding tears for it, accompanied with a cessation from the grosser acts of sin, and an outward reformation of life and manners: but they repented in an evangelical manner, as such do, who are really converted, and spiritually instructed; who are true believers in Christ, have views, and, at least, hopes of pardoning grace and mercy; and have the love of God shed abroad in their hearts by the Spirit: the repentance of such lies in a spiritual sight and sense of sin, of the evil nature of indwelling sin, and the exceeding sinfulness of it, as well as of the outward actions of life; in a hearty, godly sorrow for it, because committed against a God of purity, grace, and goodness; in a loathing it, and themselves for it; in a holy shame, and blushing, on account of it; and is attended with an ingenuous confession of it, and forsaking it: the consequence of which is, that such go readily and cheerfully into the Lord's vineyard; hear the word with all diligence, receive it with gladness; walk in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord; and are taught, by the grace that has appeared to them, to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this world.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

But what think ye? - A way of speaking designed to direct them particularly to what he was saying, that they might be self-convicted.

Two sons - By those two sons our Lord intends to represent the conduct of the Jews, and that of the publicans and sinners.

In my vineyard - See the notes at Matthew 21:33. To work in the vineyard here represents the work which God requires man to do.

I will not - This had been the language of the publicans and wicked men. They refused at first, and did not “profess” to be willing to go.

Repented - Changed his mind. Afterward, at the preaching of John and Christ, the publicans - the wicked - repented and obeyed.

The second ...said, I go sir; and went not - This represented the conduct of the scribes and Pharisees - “professing” to obey God, observing the external rites of religion, but opposed really to the kingdom of God, and about to put his Son to death.

Whether of them twain ... - Which of the two. “They say unto him, The first.” This answer was correct; but it is strange that they did not perceive that it condemned themselves.

Go into the kingdom of God - Become Christians, or more readily follow the Saviour. See the notes at Matthew 3:2.

Before you - Rather than you. They are more likely to do it than you. You are self-righteous, self-willed, and obstinate.

John came in the way of righteousness - Many of them have believed, but you have not. That is, in the right way, or teaching the way to be righteous; to wit, by repentance. Publicans and harlots heard him and became righteous, but they did not. They saw it, but, as in one thousand other cases, it did not produce the proper effect on them, and they would not repent.

Clarke's Notes on the Bible

Verse 29. I will not — This is the general reply of every sinner to the invitations of God; and, in it, the Most High is treated without ceremony or respect. They only are safe who persist not in the denial.
