Bible Verse Review
  from Treasury of Scripure Knowledge

Thimnathah: Genesis 38:12, Judges 14:1, Judges 14:2, Timnath

Ekron: Ekron is placed by Eusebius between Ashdod and Jamnia, eastward; and probably the ruined village of Tookrair, mentioned by Dr. Richarson, situated on the top of a hill, and which he says seems to have been a place of considerable consequence, occupies its site. Joshua 15:45, 1 Samuel 5:10, Amos 1:8

Reciprocal: Joshua 15:11 - Ekron

and Ekron was one of the five principalities of the Philistines, and never possessed by the Israelites; it first fell by lot to the tribe of Judah, and afterwards given to the tribe of Dan, Joshua 15:45.

s De loc. Heb. fol. 88. E.

Clarke's Notes on the Bible

Verse 43. Thimnathah — Probably the same as Timnah. Joshua 15:57.

Ekron — A well-known city of the Philistines and the metropolis of one of their five dynasties,
