near. Anathoth was a city of priests.

is = is become.

speckled bird = a bird of prey.

My portion. One Codex (Dr. Ginsburg's "G. 1") reads "My possession".

pleasant portion. Hebrew portion of desire = my desired portion.

Verse 11

high = eminent.

Verse 13

but. Some codices, with three early printed editions, Syriac, and Vulgate, read "but" in the text.

revenues = produce.

Verse 14

neighbours. Egypt, Edom, Philistia, Amnion, and Moab.

Verse 15

them. Authorized Version 1611 omits this word.
