whither. Some codices, with one early printed edition, read "and whither".

wot . Anglo-Saxon "know".

Verse 6

Verse 13

lives. Hebrew "souls". See App-13 .

Verse 14

ye. Some codices, with one early printed edition, and Vulgate, read "thou".

kindly and truly = in lovingkindness and faithfulness. Perhaps Figure of speech Hendiadys ( App-6 ), "in true loving-kindness".

When I see, &c. So the ground of our assurance is not experience within, but the token without.
