Matthew 20:30-40.20.34. Luke, in describing apparently the same case, speaks of only one blind man and represents the occurrence as taking place on their approach to Jericho, instead of when leaving it, (Luke 18:35-42.18.43.) Minute diversities in the circumstances of a narrative are not uncommon among the sacred writers, although this is one of the most striking instances. In the case of ordinary witnesses, such discrepancies are considered as proving the honesty and independence of the testimony.
