His strength. Figure of speech Metonymy (of Subject), App-6 . "Strength" put for the Ark, which was the sign of the presence of Jehovah, and the symbol of His strength. Compare Psalms 105:4 with Psalms 132:8 , and see note on 1 Chronicles 13:3 and Exodus 25:22 .
2 Chronicles 16:12
sought not. Contrast Hezekiah (2 Kings 20:2 .Isaiah 38:2 , Isaiah 38:3 .)
physicians = healers. First occurrence of mention of them among the Hebrews. These belonged to the priestly tribe, with traditional knowledge, more or less superstitious. Compare Job 13:4 . In NT. we have Luke (Colossians 4:14 ).
2 Chronicles 34:33
took away. Compare 1Ki 23:4-8 .
children = sons.
serve, even to serve. Figure of speech Epizeuxis.
all his days. Significant words, showing that in their hearts the people were still inclined to worship other gods, as Jeremiah testifies (Jeremiah 25:3 . See also Jeremiah 11:0 and Jeremiah 13:0 .
2 Chronicles 5:4
the Levites toot up. These were the bearers, but the priests (being Levites also) brought it into the house (as stated in 2 Chronicles 5:7 and 1 Kings 8:3 ). Hence, in 2 Chronicles 5:5 they are called "the priests and the Levites". See note on Deuteronomy 17:9 .

But = But now. Hebrew. 'aph (not ki, as in Psalms 44:3 and Psalms 44:7 ). Very emphatic, marking great contrast, as in Psalms 68:16 ("Yea"). Some codices, with Aramaean, read "Howbeit".
cast off (as with contempt). Compare Psalms 43:2 . Some codices, with Syriac, read "cast us off".
