A designation of any wild animal in contrast to domesticated animals, translating different Hebrew words. Most often the Hebrew is chayyah indicating living creatures ( Genesis 1:24 ) including wild animals (Genesis 1:25 ). The same Hebrew form indicates humans as “living” beings (Genesis 2:7 ). The context shows the precise type creature meant. See Animals .
