Sacred books of the Parsees. It is the main source of our knowledge about the religion of the ancient Persians. The term Zend-Avesta is often erroneously used to denote the sacred text; it is a mistaken inversion of Avistak u Zand, a Pahlavi expression signifying text (or law) and commentary.
